Where it All Began...

When time allows I’ve enjoyed writing articles for the property sections of regional newspapers. Whilst organising docs I recently stumbled across my first ever article, written as a wide-eyed trainee, no longer than a couple of month into my career. A fair few years have passed since then but it certainly made for a nostalgic read!

Luckily my jackets fit better nowadays...

“The sun is putting his hat on and I’m heading into my first summer in the world of Estate Agency.

During my time so far at Sowerbys two key things have become very apparent to me: Firstly, I have the pleasure of working in one of the finest and most desirable areas in England. On a daily basis I meet people from areas that not only span Britain, but the world, who all have the same dream: To own that picture perfect property in Norfolk. It is hard to tire of the expressions on viewers’ faces when they get their first glimpse of the Blakeney marshes from a bedroom window or look out on rolling fields from the back garden.

Secondly, I’m lucky enough to work with one of the most personable agencies that I’ve come across. Thorough communication is imperative in this industry and it’s the personal touch that turns the buying/selling process from a cold business transaction into a process that is a pleasure for all parties involved. Many vendors are, rightly so, very proud of their properties and are entrusting us with what is more often than not, their most prized possession. Clear, regular communication goes a long way to making the whole process a very positive experience.

We are spoilt for choice for picturesque, desirable villages: Binham, Langham, Blakeney & Barney to name but a few, all of which are in easy reach of well-established towns such a Holt that offer a wealth of amenities. Being born and raised in Holt, I naturally have a special connection with the town and it’s a joy to find that its pull to prospective buyers, both second homers and those looking for a new permanent home, is still as strong as ever. I often find myself meeting people who are looking for “something right in the centre of Holt” or “within shooting distance of Holt”. This comes as no surprise to me as Holt has so much to offer to those from all walks of life; be it the thriving high street occupied by independent retailers, its many clubs & societies that help to form the strong sense of community here, striking Georgian architecture and not to mention the eclectic mix of restaurants and cafes.

The market is ramping up for summer now; instructions, enquiries and viewing numbers are on the rise. North Norfolk property looks to be in for an active summer, and I can’t wait to join the ride.”

My first ever property sale VS my most recent. How times have changed!

A lot has changed since those days and the property market has had a lot thrown at it; Countless elections, stamp duty hikes and of course Brexit. I am happy to report that the market in Norfolk and my love for property remain very much intact.

Until I fine tune my crystal ball, the next challenge to face property remains a mystery… And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
